George Chandler, of Winterville, Georgia, was officially installed as 2007-2008 Georgia District Governor at the state convention held at Calloway Gardens, August 24-26, 2007, succeeding out-going Governor Wayne Howell.
George Chandler joined the Winterville Civitan Club in 1986, where his father was a Charter Member. George has served as club secretary, president-elect and is a 3 term club president. He has served the Georgia North Civitan District as both Lt. Governor and Area Director. George received the Civitas Award in 2000-2001 and District Honor Key in 2002-2003 both from the Georgia North Civitan District. He received the Georgia District Civitas Award in 2006-2007.
George is a registered Professional Engineer in Georgia and South Carolina and retired from the Athens-Clarke County Public Utilities Department in September 2005.
George is married to wife Patsy for 42 years and they have two sons.
